High-carbon emitters must compensate: MP Shakya

National Assembly member Anjan Shakya highlighted Nepal's vulnerability to climate change impacts at COP-29 in Baku, Azerbaijan. 

Speaking during the debate on "Transformative Legislation for Just and Equitable Energy Transition," she urged the global community to reduce fossil fuel dependence and promote equal access to clean energy. 

Shakya attributed climate change and related disasters to human activities, including over-exploitation of resources, excessive energy use, and industrialization, calling for urgent action to mitigate these challenges.
